1985 Yugo GV

Yugoslavia’s Yugo GV entered the United States in 1985 and immediately became the cheapest car available. Prices started at $3,990, but you get what you pay for. Bad brakes, rough transmissions and failing engines made owning a Yugo an unwanted adventure. Insurance companies also frowned upon the Yugo, which hiked up coverage prices. Yugo went bankrupt and quit importing to the U.S. in 1991.

  17. “The cutting edge of Serbo-Croatian technology”. Ten points if you get the movie reference without googling it.

Yugos all had rear window defrosters. It was so you could keep your hands warm while you were pushing it.

We had a guy come into the shop and say, “Hey, I’d like to get a gas cap for my Yugo.” Answer: “I’m sorry, sir, we don’t take trades.”

I got a perfect joke in this situation: A book never written: “One Of the Worst Cars Ever” by Yugo G. Vees.

This car was suppose to be the next “Beatle”. However, communist craftsmanship being what it is, the engines and intake manifolds tended to crack under very little stress, the electrical system was a nightmare and they were impossible to get pats for. A Coke can at a BB gun festival has better survivability. There are still 1957 VW “Beatles” on the road. RIP Yugo.

I think u mean “Beetle”. “Beatle” is a member of the best band ever (see name).

Beatles are by far the best band in the history of this universe.
