  16. How do I use my digital watch as a compass?

      I don’t even have any idea how that kid was using his regular watch as a compass xD

    • You need hands on your watch. You hold your watch horizontally, aspoint the hour hand at the Sun. South is halfway between there and 12 o’clock. Although, you might be able to imagine the hands and get a approximation…

  38. I would have gotten them all if the pictures were of a higher quality. Could not even see the axe in the first one. Several others were very unclear also.

  39. I got 7 of eight missing the first one. I guess it depends on what type of metal your axe is made of.

  43. I made 70-79% the first time, but the second time I made a 90-100. I think it was interesting to know that in 1949 these things were valued knowledge in a Scout.

  47. I still read some or my old scouts books.one thing I love to see is how to make a tent, however we had to use cotton sheets because there was no Money. the home made tents was nice unless it rain that day. we also cook tin can. We all enjoyed it.

  48. Interesting that so many questions were about field orientation and mapping skills. Today there are GPS devices and scouts often overlook these important skills.

  49. One of the many reasons I joined Scouts in the 50’s was the opportunity to learn things like this! Thanks for the memories!
