Hiking Mount St. Helens with Troop 413
Boys’ Life photography director W. Garth Dowling joined Scouts from Troop 413 in Otis Orchards, Wash., for a five-day hiking trip up, down and around Mount St. Helens.
Lush forests, barren lands and plenty of nerve-wracking climbs made for a memorable hike on the most famous volcano in the United States.
Listen in as our photographer describes the experience in the slideshow above, and then check out more of his photos below. To read more about the adventure, check out the article in the May 2014 issue of Boys’ Life magazine.
That looks like a great trip. Looks like boys are having a blast. Great job to the troop committee and leaders for getting this planned and executed.
Great job SM Hotchkiss and T 413! Super photos! Can’t wait to see the article. Betcha there was a lot of bonding going on. So glad to read all are safe and sound, having earned their 50 miler awards too – bonus!
It was fun being a grandpa on the first two days of the trip. How neat to see what the scouts can do amidst what God can do!
