16-year-old Climbs Two Giant Mountains Back To Back
Matt Moniz is only 16 years old, but that hasn’t stopped him from accomplishing wonders.
In one week, Matt, who also happens to be an Eagle Scout, climbed a 27,766-foot mountain (Makalu), followed by a 26,905-foot mountain (Cho Oyu).
How significant is that? Matt is the youngest person ever to summit Makalu.
And, Makalu and Cho Oyu are the fifth- and sixth-tallest mountains in the world. Matt and his dad were going to summit Mount Everest, too, until an avalanche and the resulting devastation changed their plans.
