Illinois Scouts make annual Grant pilgrimage
For more than 60 years, Scouts from Illinois and surrounding states have gathered in Galena, Illinois, for the Blackhawk Area Council’s U.S. Grant Pilgrimage, a weekend full of Scouting activities with a Civil War theme.
President Ulysses S. Grant, who also served as the Commanding General of the Union Army, lived in Galena off and on throughout his life.
Last weekend, more than 4,000 Scouts participated in Civil War reenactments, a historical trail hike, rock climbing and a Cub Scout activity area.

Super fun event for our scouts! Fun to take a trip, ditch the parental units for a weekend, learn some hisotry, explore shops in a small town and watch your youngest scout win the grabt impersonation contest….. thank you, everyone, for making this happen
This is very nice and I love how it talks about Scouts reenacting civil wars
