How to Stretch Correctly

Prepare for exercise by warming up with calisthenics or a light version of the exercise. Then stretch your muscles, which helps increase flexibility and coordination.
Remember: Stretching before a warmup can pull or tear muscles.
Here are some tips:
• Repeat stretches three times for each of these muscle groups: arms, shoulders, back, and upper and lower legs.
• Stretch slowly, hold for at least 15 to 30 seconds and breathe.
• Also include stretching as part of your cooldown routine after intense exercise.
• Avoid bouncing, which can damage the muscles you’re stretching.
• Don’t overdo it. Stop if it hurts.
