Best shirts for outdoor activities
Q. Dear Gear Guy, I love to go camping, but I never know what type of shirt I should wear. Any suggestions?

A. For most outdoor activities in all sorts of weather, you’re best off wearing a base-layer tee or long-sleeve shirt made of a fabric that will keep you dry and comfortable. Look for a tee made of a synthetic blend including polyester or thin merino wool. Both types of fabric dry faster than cotton, keep you comfortable by moving sweat away from your skin and maintain warmth even when wet. They are often called “performance” or “technical” shirts. You can find a good selection of performance gear at scoutstuff.org.
