Winter Reminder: Wear a Helmet!
Nothing beats skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Just remember to wear a helmet.
The Guide to Safe Scouting requires the use of helmets for downhill skiing and snowboarding. The operation of snowmobiles (older Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Venturers only) requires full face helmets.
The BSA recommends that you also wear helmets for other winter sports such as sledding and other sliding devices.
Our own Gear Guy has some thoughts about helmets that he shared here. Read the Guide to Safe Scouting’s chapter on winter sports here.
