The BSA Centennial Forest is Complete
What started as a single tree planted in front of the BSA national office in Irving, Texas, has now finished with 100,000 trees planted in an area in Montana that’s now known as the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Forest.
Partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation, the BSA undertook a nationwide tree-planting campaign last year as part of its 100th anniversary celebration. The campaign included the planting of 100,000 trees in the Centennial Forest, which lies within the Flathead National Forest, an area that was damaged by massive wildfires in 2003 and 2007.
Montana Boy Scouts planted 30 ceremonial trees last week to officially conclude the massive service project.
The trees will provide habitat for wildlife and help to filter the rivers and lakes that drain into Flathead Lake, one of the cleanest freshwater lakes in the world.
