Cub Scouts Get Inside Look at Magazine Publishing

It might not be as awesome as your favorite magazine, but there’s no question that Leatherneck magazine — the official magazine of the United States Marines Corps, is pretty darn cool.

The Cub Scouts from Pack 907 in Virginia found out just how cool when they visited the Leatherneck offices earlier this month. The boys spoke with the magazine’s editor, retired Marine colonel Walt Ford, about what it takes to produce a magazine and its accompanying website.

They even got to keep a (fake) copy of the magazine that featured themselves on the cover.

The term “leatherneck” comes from the leather collar that used to be part of the Marines’ uniform.
