Service Project Idea: Fix A Leak
Clean, drinkable water is something that most of us take for granted, but it is conceivable that someday we could run out of it. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, American households waste more than 1 trillion gallons of water each year due to leaky pipes, toilets, shower heads and other plumbing fixtures.
That’s why the EPA has declared March 12-18 Fix-A-Leak Week. If you’re up for a service project, this is an easy one to handle.
While some leaks require a professional plumber to fix, others area easy and cheap to do yourself. Simply passing out flyers encouraging the members of your community to check their own leaks could be a huge help.
If you or any trusted adult you know are skilled do-it-yourselfers, consider providing inspections for your neighbors.
