Scouts Take To Welding
More than 20 Scouts from the Heart of America Council gathered at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Mo., last weekend to earn their Welding merit badges, becoming some of the first Scouts in the country to earn the brand-new badge.
Under supervision of experts from the MCC Business & Technology school and the American Welding Society, the Scouts learned about welding safety and got to try some gas medal arc welding for themselves.
The Scouts were required to weld their initials into metal plates and connect two plates of metal using shielded arc metal welding.
welding is fun, my dad has one so I hope to learn it
This looks like a great merit badge. I hope to be able to take it soon. I will be asking my Troop to offer it soon.
cool! 🙂
