Whitewater kayaking and paddleboarding
Whitewater Kayaking has been around a long time. Standup paddleboarding is a relatively new activity.
Both will be featured at the 2013 National Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit Reserve, and both are super fun.
Senior writer Aaron Derr and two twin Eagle Scouts from Troop 40 in Bridgeport, W.V., tried their hands at both sports on Tuesday, July 10, on Day 2 of a photoshoot for the Scouting For Adventure TV show.
Both of the Scouts took to the kayaking relatively quickly, though both although took their fair share of unplanned swims in the river.
A Class II rapid was the perfect match for the beginner kayakers.
And standup paddleboarding turned out to be a lot more exciting than it might initially seem.
