Old Cabin, New Home
One of the oldest Boy Scout camps in America is getting a makeover.
The Daniel Beard cabin, named after one of the original founders of the Boy Scouts of America, used to sit in a wooded area near Hawley, Pa. Now, thanks to Scouts from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council, it has found a new home about 12 miles down the road at Goose Pond Scout Reservation.
The land at the original site was being developed, and the owners donated the cabin to the Boy Scouts instead of demolishing it. Adults, youth and professional contractors are working to disassemble the logs and reassemble them at their new home.
