A 25 degree angle is waaay too steep for a good edge. Otherwise, no quibbles. Good quiz. And yes, you can pass a knife safely with an open blade. Knife safety is knife safety, whether it is an open folding knife or a big butcher knife or a locked Opinel. See you on the trail.
