Looking for Durable and Comfortable Pants

pants

Q. I’m looking for pants durable for trail building and comfortable for wearing around camp. Ideas?
— Alex in the Field, Palos Hills, Illinois

A. Sometimes the more durable a pair of pants is, the less comfortable it is.

I’ve found these fit both categories — especially after a few washings. Try the Carhartt Washed-Duck Double-Front Work Dungaree ($50; carhartt.com). Another less expensive option is the Dickies Loose Fit Double Knee Work Pant ($30-$35; dickies.com).

    How about a non-Cotton option?

  2. I’m planning to check Deluth Trading Co. Those fire hose pants look good to me, AND they are available in green.
