Stuff We Like: Cateye Bike Lights

One of the best ways to stay safe when bicycling is to make sure that you and your bike can be seen. This is especially important at night. Basic reflectors are a good start, but you really should have lights too. While some light systems are expensive and require special mounting hardware, Cateye’s unique LED light systems ($20, are affordable and easy to mount.

The Cateye Loop is a set of quarter-sized LED lights, one white light for the front of your bike and a red tail light. They are powered by a pair of CR2032 batteries (comes with the light) and can give you 50 hours of bright LED light in flashing mode or 30 hours in the constant mode. Loop lights have a stretchy elastic band and clasp that lets you attach the lights anywhere on your bike: handlebars, seat post, anywhere.

The Cateye Orbit is of similar size and power but is designed to slide easily onto the spokes of your wheel, like a reflector, providing a cool, eye-catching light that spins as your wheel turns.
