Many of the athletes on the swim team at Gig Harbor High School in Washington state have one thing in common: They’re either Eagle Scouts, or on their way to becoming Eagle Scouts.
This year, eight swimmers are either Eagle Scouts, or on their way to achieving that lofty rank.
“They seem to respond to the discipline and the hard work,” their coach told a local newspaper. “That’s common in both. There’s goal setting with the Scouts; you’re trying to keep moving up. With swimming, you’re always trying to move on to districts and state.”
