In the June 2011 issue of Boys’ Life, we told you about Bryce Thornton of Troop 48 in Eagle Point, Ore., who back in 2009 had started a project to support U.S. soldiers stationed overseas.
Back then, he had no idea that he’d still be sending packages three years later.
Now, Bryce has sent more than 2,200 boxes — more than 16,000 pounds of goods, to soldiers. And the gifts just keep coming. The most challenging part of the project has been paying for the postage required to ship the goods. Everybody is eager to donate items; few think about donating postage.
Bryce has gotten a lot of help from members of his community. He’s also gotten a big hand from Gary West Artisan Smoked Meats, which doubles any donation to Bryce’s cause.
