Ricky Newell is a 15-year-old boy with a cognitive-developmental disability.
He’s also an Eagle Scout, thanks to his own dedication and hard work, along with a little help from his friends in Troop 5280 in Denver.
The troop was formed to ensure that kids with cognitive and physical challenges get the chance to learn outdoor and life skills while building self-esteem — basically, everything the BSA has to offer.
Ricky, who has earned more than 40 merit badges, says, “It felt great — it really did.”
