How to Make a Paracord Fish-Tail Key Chain
A paracord fish-tail key chain is a fun and easy do-it-yourself project that could make a great gift for dad. Here’s how to do it!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE A PARACORD FISH-TAIL KEY CHAIN
- 24 inches of paracord
- Key ring
- Lighter (to be used by an adult)
- Scissors
WHAT YOU’LL DO TO MAKE YOUR PARACORD KEY CHAIN
Step 1: Tie an overhand knot on one end of your paracord. This will be a stopper knot. Next, place the key ring on your paracord. With the key ring in the center, adjust the cord to the length you want your key chain to be.
Step 2: Begin to weave your paracord. Starting with the right side (side without the knot), wrap the cord around the left side and through the middle. From the middle, weave the cord around the right side and back through the middle. Repeat this step until you have about an inch of cord left.
Note: The key chain will be loose at this point.
Step 3: Once you reach the end, turn your key chain over and weave the excess paracord through the last loop created. Next, cinch your key chain closer to the key ring to tighten it. Use the scissors to cut off any excess cord on both ends. Have an adult melt the ends with a lighter, and then press them flat with scissors.
